Bolam Pass, Shiprock mtn

While staying at my brothers in southern Colorado, I took a few rides.
One trip was a loop through the San jaun mountains via Bolam pass.
And another was south into New Mexico to Shiprock mtn.

The year before, I had taken my brothers F800gs for a ride through the San jaun mtn's. While riding I noticed a road that headed north, it just seemed to climb fore as far as I could see, but not having the time I thought "I'll be back".
While I'm back and I brought a friend.

From Durango we went north on the 550 to the ski hill, then west on a gravel road that takes you in behind the ski hill.

Most of the roads were in great shape, and loads of fun

I said most of the roads. As we climbed we hit a ton of switch backs,
that were quite steep, and very rocky.
Once at the top there is a cabin. All that is left of the mine that was here.

What a view.

We were kept following this road' as it would eventuality take us out to the # 145 hwy

This is a view coming down the other side

Of course my bike.

A few days later when headed to Shiprock mtn
Via Navajo Dam

The ride was hot , and the cross winds were a complete pain in the ass.

But when you see this mountain... Wow!

It is flat for miles around the mountain.

That's one impressive tank bag ;)

The wind pick up like crazy,
and we headed north to the four corners monument.

From here we went to Cortez CO.
we took a room at a small motel, it was so crappy, that refused to take my boot off, as it looked as if there had been a multiple homicide there not long before.

The next day after a great breakfast, we did a loop, from Dolores north past Mcphee reservoir, then east to Gruond hog reservoir. From here we then took "co rd h" to "co rd 52" to Dunton CO. From back out to Dolores. This has to be the most beutful ride I have ever been on, but it was so cold that I hardly took any photos.

Ground hog reservoir

Nice veiw

Can't move... frozen

Still frozen

Dunton

The ride out is a blast

Back in Dolores, we had chillies burgers, before our ride home.
