Bralorne

Another long weekend
Woo Hoo

Where to go
I think I'll head north
That means taking the #99

At Porto Cove

The sun was very shy today

My mirror was pissing me off
so, I stopped to fix it

Then noticed
Wow it is really beautiful here

Just past Whistler

DR and duck

On to Pemberton

In Pemberton I met up with a cople of guys going up to
Bralorn
Come along they said
So I did

This is on the "High Line" road
It links Darcy, and Seton Portage

Not many picks on this part of the trip
I was trying to keep up with
the other riders

This is a shot of Bogdan
After we had been at the Bralorn pub

We are headed up to kingdom lake to camp

This has to be one of the most beautiful places
that I have biked to

Kingdom Lake

By the time we got there
Bogdan's wife, and friends had camp set up

DR sleeping

After a great meal they took me to a party at Lennys
in Bralorn

I had fun, but was too tired to stay up when we got back

Very windy night I had to sleep with earplugs in

Great sleep
Next morning made crappy tea
then packed my stuff to wander on exploring

Heading out to Lillooet
Carpenters Lake

The canyon out

Seton Lake

I only stopped for fuel
then to play in this water fall

Oh and to let my butt rest

What a great way to break in my engine

DR650

Over the last few weeks I test rode a few different bikes
I went to a dealer, and not knowing that the
"test rides" where "group rides"
I jumped on a bike and went for a spin

A DR650SE

I had just gotten off a 2008 XT250, so when I jumped on this beast
it felt like I had taken quite a few steps back, and down

The XT is smooth, no vibes and shifting
Well it just clicks into gear so perfectly
It seemed so refined
To this...

I pulled over to check the bike out closer
Something that is very hard to at a dealer
It's that whole "predator" "prey" thing
So, without the tingling on the back of my neck
I investigated
What I found was a bike model that has not been changed since 1996
Not a bad thing...
If it works
So armed with ear plugs, and a W.T.F.
(I should be moving forward with technology, not back 13 years)
attitude
I headed out again, trying to get comfortable on a seat that the
Spanish inquisition
would only have used as a "last resort".
Trust me, a short time on this,
and you would be confessing to all sorts of blasphemies

The bike just seemed so crude, after the yammi

But...
That engine
rumbly, with lots of torque

Completely old school

I took it for a good ride through the hills
this bike just kept growing on me
I know that it has 400 cc's more than what I came off
but, this is one of those times when the phrase
"more than a sum of its parts"
comes into play

We cruised to few places

I bet they are wondering where their bike is

I took it back, and tested a few other bikes
Some ok
some great
but, none of them gave me the same feeling as the DR

A feeling of "No limits"

Its a bike that you can ride to the store for milk, or
The Namib desert
The Plains of Patagonia,
The Ural mountains
The Great Steppe
The Artic circle
Mongolia

I could go on, but

I am now the proud owner of a
DR650SE K9

K9 = 2009 (Year of bike)

I named him K9, mans best friend (Dr Who)

Let the fun begin

Snow

It has been quite some time since I last posted any rides
well here are some of the reasons

Snow

Lots of it

Not much riding, but lots of walking

Spring is on it's way

A short trip to Port Alberni

Last trip on my XT250

I sold it after this trip, and bought a...
