A neighbor of my brothers took us on a ride
It was up La Plata Canyon
I rode out
they had to trailer theirs
not set up for the road
A Honda crf, and Yamaha wrf
Jepedo
We rode along a very rocky road for quite a few miles
Lots of time to look around
As you head up the canyon
the walls start to close in
We saw some tracks heading up
and thought why not
As we were climbing you could see a nice smooth trail
on the other side of a ravine
We rode back down a headed up it
Woo Hoo
fun
It did not lead us very far
we had to go back down and take the rocky path up
It lead to someones gold mine
that is the white box thing in the back ground
Looking down to the point we had started from
This is the cirque at the top of our climb
Some old guy had ridden his quad up here and offered
to take some photos of us
This was the least crappy
We rode down
and headed further up the canyon
We took the trail to the pass
And what a pass
At this point we were just under 12,000 feet
Looking over
A bit of a drop
Checking out the trail down
Durango in the distance
The trail had been wiped out by snow slides over the years
The gap in the pass
Me dying from the heat
Back down
Me hiding from the sun
View from the trial head
On the way back to the truck
we passed an old homestead
