A long weekend, a freshly tuned bike no plans...
Lets go east.
I did not want travel on the main highways, so I took the #7 east, then some country lanes.
My first stop was this lovely little pond.
WTF!
The whole valley was shaking with gunfire
Then I look across the road
Calm now I have a bite to eat, and wander around the pond
Back on the road I head to Harrison Lake
This is know as Sasquatch country
A cruiser in it's natural enviroment
Maybe he stopped in for this
Mmmm dead frog
The lake
Boat rentals
That means tourists :(
I leave the lake and stop so that thumper can make some new friends
The frog had an ecosystem of it's own
The area has a ton of murals
Next to Hope
Found a nice bit of shade to rest in
The Fraser River
I then headed up to Manning Park
In behind Sunshine Valley
I found some logging roads that lead to this amazing box end valley
Wild flowers covered what ever ground that was not treed
One of the water falls that feed the stream on the floor of the valley
I kept riding only to discover an abandon ski hill
The lift hut
Inside the lift hut
The diesel engine for the lift
I was going to camp here, but the area was covered with sign of bear
So, I thought that I would stay in this nice little hut
It was an outhouse :(
I went up to the chateau, but it was locked up tight.
Looking in through a window
A view from the deck
A nice bridge, so you don't have ford the stream
The road in
I got back to the main road, and stopped to take a photo of this
When a bobcat jumped up on the concrete barrier,
then bounded across the road, and up this rock face
I only caught him in this shot
He is in the top left of the photo in the grass
Starting to get much dryer here
I rode on looking for a camp site,
but every place was full
As the sun went down,
so did the temperature
I pulled off here to put on another layer
I then rode on to Princeton
There was not an empty camp space anywhere,
I followed a gravel road
then a trail
And found a spot for my sleeping bag under some pine trees
This was the view that greeted me when I woke
It was so dry here that I did not want to start my stove
This was breakfast
Here is the trail that I road up in the dark
On my way out I found these
Mmmm saskatoon berries
Some interesting clay formations along the river as I rode out
More of the packed clay or soft stone
In Princeton I had a great coffee @
"Cowboy Coffee"
Then wandered about with my camera
From here I went north towards Merritt
Amazing road through this long valley
My steering was getting heavy
Oh crap a flat
Found some shade, and off came the wheel
It was a small rest stop that I was at
I had many offers of help from people...
and their dogs :(
One guy just grabbed my wrenches and stared prying on things
when I got it all back together, and was pumping it full of air
I noticed that I had some new holes in my tube
I thank the gentleman, and reminded him he still had a long way to go
Then removed the tube "again" and patched the new holes
This little fellow was the most help, as he just mucked about looking for things to eat
Back on the road
Stop in Merritt for fuel
Did not take any photos as the temp was about
9000, and climbing
Found some shade
Had lunch
Watched donkey
North to Spences Bridge
Beautiful, but
So incredable dry that you can feel the moistuer
being pulled from your body
This is where I met up with Highway 1
Once I got on the # 1 I did not stop till just out side Hope
Nice place to strech
I rode into Hope Had a great sleep
The next day, on the way home
the only place I stoped was
What a great way to spend a long weekend
